2. Natural Resources in the reserve
With crisscrossing high mountains and deep valleys, the reserve features a huge elevation gap with a maximum elevation gap of 5,100 meters between the highest point and lowest point. Thanks to altitude gradient, Wolong Nature Reserve has a vertical distribution of vegetation from evergreen broad-leaf forest to alpine meadows. The complex natural geological environments bring abundant biodiversity to the reserve including some national key-protected plants and wildlife such as Giant Panda, Lesser Panda, Sichuan Takin, Snow Leopard, Chinese Monal, Temminck's Tragopan, Blood Pheasant, and Cypripedium tibeticum.
