Known as "Qian" or "Gui," Guizhou is a province located in the eastern part of Southwest China, bordered by Hunan to the east, Guangxi to the south, Yunnan to the west, and Sichuan and Chongqing to the north. Situated on the eastern slope of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, Guizhou is one of the world's most iconic regions for karst landforms.
Not only is Guizhou a mountainous inland province with a rich history, unique natural environment, pleasant climate, and diverse ethnic communities, but it is also one of the birthplaces of ancient life and early humans in China. The Triassic strata (dating back 200-250 million years) are widely distributed here, preserving rare fossils such as Keichousaurus and crinoids (sea lilies). For this reason, Guizhou is acclaimed as "a treasure trove for understanding the evolution of life on Earth."
