Shay Xie

As a full-time bird guide, Shay has guided many international birders from different parts of the world including the UK, USA, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and Thailand to look for birds in different parts of China. Especially he has built up a great knowledge about the bird resources in mountainous areas in southwest China, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and Yungui Plateau. His professionalism, rich knowledge, and great service have won lots of good reviews from the clients he served.

Being born and grown up in the eastern part of Chongqing, he has been attracted by the beautiful natural scenery and mysterious living creatures from a very young age. With the growth of age, he found out his passion and interests in nature were also increasing. Following the call from his inner heart, he came to Sichuan University to study ecology after graduation from high school. Bird-watching accompanied his whole campus time. He found many rare and precious birds including Blackthroat, and Firethroat. His participation in bird surveys in the nature reserves in Sichuan, and experiences accumulated from the field laid a solid foundation for his career of being a professional bird guide.
