Kekexili National Nature Reserve
1. General Information
Sitting in the core area of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Kekexili National Nature Reserve is located in the northwest of Yusu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture with a total size of 4,500,000 hectares. The reserve is one of the few nature reserves that have the largest land size, highest elevation, and most abundant wildlife resources, being famed as the third pole in the world and the gene bank for the rare and precious wildlife on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. In July of 2017, Kekexili Nature Reserve from Qinghai province was inscribed into the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO and becomes the 51st world heritage site in China.

2. The Natural Resources in the Reserve
Thanks to the good protection of its original ecological environment, Kekexili Nature Reserve has abundant animal resources including national class one protected animals such as Tibetan Antelope, Tibetan Kiang, Wild Yak, Snow Leopard, and White-lipped Deer, as well as national class two protected animals such as Blue Sheep, Tibetan Gazelle, Brown Bear, Lynx and Palla's Cat. They play a vital role in maintaining the balance of the ecological system on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
